Asia-Pacific Angiology Academic Association established in Macao

CopyFrom: UpdateTime: 09-06-2016 Hits: 52 fontSize: Small Big On June 24-26, 2016, the 1st Asia-Pacific Angiology Academic Alliance Conference and 2016 International Annual Congress of Macau Health Bureau Doctors' Association was held in Macao. Co-hosted by the Chinese Society of Microcirculation & Professional Committee of Vascular Disease and Macau Health Bureau Doctors' Association, the event received a written instruction from Macao Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai-on and was supported by the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, Health Bureau and Macao Foundation of the Macao SAR Government. The Health and Family Planning Commission of Shenzhen Municipality also held the APA Shenzhen International Congress at the same time.

The meeting saw the establishment of APA, to which Professor Zheng Yuehong from our hospital was elected president, marking a new start in international meetings in the fields of microcirculation and vascular disease. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Choi Nim, chairman of Macau Health Bureau Doctors' Association, and Professor Zheng Yuehong from PUMCH. Present at the meeting were Academician Zhan Qimin, Professor Liu Naifeng, Professor Wang Shenming, leaders of Liaison Office in Macao, members of the Legislative Assembly and the Consul General of Portugal, and other attendants included Dr Lei Chin Ion, director of the Macau Health Bureau, Kuok Cheong U, president of Hospital Conde S. Januário, Gomes Fernadido, president of Doctors' Association as well as more than 500 guests from a dozen Asia-Pacific countries and regions.

The Congress, focusing on such topics as “current status and trends of angiology” and “microcirculation and vascular disease”, aims at communication between scholars, doctors and researchers from different specialties and the cultivation of international exchange capability of young and middle-aged doctors.

PUMCH professors Li Li, Xu Zhonghuang, Liu Bao, Chen Yuexin, Zhang Hua and Li Yanfeng chaired sessions or gave keynote speeches. Director Huang Yuguang from Anesthesiology, Director Liu Changwei from Vascular Surgery and Director Li Danqing from Thoracic Surgery supported the event by sending out young doctors to the English speech contest. PUMCH is a hospital of Macao’s cooperation with the outside world. Surgeon He Jia from Thoracic Surgery and some other PUMCH doctors actively supported the event. The hospital’s contribution to the organizing of the event was highly recognized by Macau Health Bureau and Hospital Conde S. Januário. At the two-day event, young doctor Chen Si from Anesthesiology won the first prize in the English speech contest, displaying the spirit of the younger generation of PUMCH.
